Yesterday I realised that I had not bought any new music since February, when I bought Just Like Blood by Tom McRae, and 100th Window by Massive Attack. The only other CD have bought since then is FunkungFusion from the Ninja Tune label, which I only got because I had been after it for a while, and it was cheap. For some reason I have remained unaffected by almost everything I’ve heard recently, with nothing making me have to buy a specific CD.
Having said that, I just heard (i.e. 5 minutes ago), a song called ‘Mad World’ from the film Donnie Darko, which sounds like Michael Stipe singing accompanied only by a piano, but it is in fact Gary Jules.
I think the video for it would be someone traveling in New York, going to work, with everyone else going the other way but frozen in time so that the singer has to walk between them. I think it would be shot in black and white, in the rain.
