Last night I discovered that yet another of my neighbours has installed ridiculously bright (about 500W) security lighting. From an astronomy point of view it means that fainter stars are lost and I have to set my telescope in the corner between my house and the fence so that I can see anything. Also, from a security point of view I cannot see how setting up a blinding light source directly over your back door is going to help anyone.
