In preparation for doing some really rather unpleasant work (walking along high-speed rail lines looking at the earthworks), we have been given some rather nice gadgets:

1. iPAQ h5500s, with wireless lan, Bluetooth, fingerprint scanner and body armour.
2. Bluetooth GPS receiver
3. Digital camera
4. Some nice GIS software
5. 1001 and 1 chargers, batteries and memory cards.

I am quite sure that this is just a diversionary tactic so we forget about being in mortal danger everyday, but at least it is better than writing in soggy notebooks. Rather unfairly though, we have to give them back.
