Spending the weekend reading my book (the Mr Norrell one over in the sidebar) has shown me that there is nowhere in my house where I can read a heavy book comfortably. My usual posture of lying on my back with the book in the left hand is possible for about 30 seconds (said book is about 3lbs). Other that have tried and failed include: Lying on side (results in a seriously dead shoulder), laying on front (cricked neck) and various sofa positions, most of which leave me with some body part dangling uncomfortably in space.
Is there any pain free way to read an unweildy book?
Update: The wing-back armchair at my parents house is perfect – turn 45 degrees to the side, one leg over the chair arm and I fit nicely into the corner, book resting comfortably.

Emply a pleb to stand in front of you holding it like an altar boy at church
(apologies for any typos, the box is hiding under the menus again)
Hmm, the lackey idea has some merit, I’ll look into it.

Must fix comments box [I'll do it one day
And there is a ‘check spelling’ button too!
Sit at a table?
Alas, the only table in my house requires you to sit on a seat 9 inches high to sit at..
.
Jo – the comments should now stretch to fit the width of the centre column
Well, I am here to tell you that its not fixed, what happens now is that i type and the box goes all the way UNDER the column on the right and out the other side. hee hee. Also, I know there is spell check, but I wanted to leave my post in its natural state to illustrate my point, AND I just ran it on THIS post and it somehow lost the post all together and I have had to type it all over again. Where are you hiding anyway Ian? email me eh?
Its IE being rubbish. Have done a narrow box for IE now so hopefully it won’t go under the sidebar unless you have a really narrow window (maybe).
Oh, this is lovely, simply lovely…
Thanks
