Being slightly interested in the weather, I have been following the RealClimate weblog for a while.

RealClimate is a commentary site on climate science by working climate scientists for the interested public and journalists.

As you would expect, the articles are not the lightest reading but they do help to dispel many of the beliefs peddled by certain newspapers and the hardcore environmentalist doomsayers.

The current article is in part a response to the recent BBC2 ‘Horizon’ program that stated as a an apparently foregone conclusion that the famines of the 1980′s were the result of the new phenomena of ‘global dimming’. While watching the program, I was pretty certain that the facts had probably not necessarily exaggerated, but delivered in such a way that the audience was likely to see the worst, and this is backed up by the article.

I wish that TV documentaries would stick to reporting the facts, accurately, rather than trying to dress something up as the worst thing to happen since sliced bread. Maybe this was a one-off and the BBC will get back on track.

Maybe I can get some stickers to give out to 4×4 drivers: ‘I’m doing my bit for global dimming, are you?’
