Follow a mention by Podz, I have revisited the lastest version of dr Dave’s Spam-Karma. The main reason for this is that I was using an older version of Spaminator, that wasn’t 100% integrated with the new WP (and the newest version takes a serious dislike to the number of hyphens in my URI). It is also teamed up with another nasty little hack by dr Dave – Referrer-Karma that I have been using to try and quell the battering my bandwidth has been taking this month.

Another thing I like about Spam-Karma is the friendly message it generates:

Incidentally, I have noticed the spammers has changed tactics again. Previously comments were disguised as genuine, with just a link or two (or none). Now the are packing 40+ links each, maybe a sign that the scum are running out of unprotected sites to attack and are trying to hit the open ones harder.

For an interesting (and so far seemingly effective) counterstrike on certain spam, I suggest you check out what Ozh has to say here.
