Scuttle is a bookmark manager akin to that of del.icio.us, but with the distinct advantage of being hosted on your own server. Currently it is missing a search function and the ’social’ bit of del.icio.us (if you have it just for yourself, obviously) but apart from that it seems to have everything needed.

It made a bit of a noise a few weeks ago when it when it first appeared, but I didn’t hear much more after that. Checking out the authors’ blog, I found that it has now reached v0.3.0, so downloaded and it is now running on my new Scuttle page.

Importing my del.icio.us links took a while as the API page appears blank in Safari, and I had to view source and copy the data into a XML file. Though once I did that the import worked flawlessly.

I have broken the registration function, but if you want to have a play, let me know and I will give you the link. Alternatively, you can download Scuttle for yourself from the sourceforge page (it just needs PHP and a MySQL database to run).

Oh, and I love the name too.
