Keaka Jackson’s PowerController is a very handy little OS X application that turns your humble Mac into probably one of the worlds most expensive alarm clocks. Once installed it lurks in the background, rouses your machines from sleep, and fires up iTunes and your chosen playlist at the appointed time.
Best of all it allows you to set starting volumes1 (so no need to set things up the night before) and it can also gently increase the volume resulting in a more civilised wake up.
- I would however recommend a test run of the volumes first, I just guessed and the result was ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’ by LCD Soundsystem loud enough that when I woke up I was about 2 feet above my bed. ↑
