I don’t really have anything to say on her achievement that hasn’t already been said. But, if she doesn’t get 100% of votes in this years sports personality of the year, I will personally track down the other percentage voters and poke them in the eye with a sharp stick.

Ellen who?
I’ll do the same to their other eye.
I couldnt give two pigs about Ellen MacArthur. Of what interest is it to me that some Dennis the Menace lookalike has climbed aboard a huge floating DIY Superstore advert and sailed round the world? I’m sure loads of people could have done what she did, its just that most people have jobs to go to. What gives her the right to swan off for months on end? And when people talk about the things she had to go through. No one bloody forced her to do it, its not as if she was a prisoner of war or anything. Stupid woman. She shouldnt be praised, she should be ignored.
Well I could.
To be honest, I didn’t appreciate the advertising until it was explicitly mentioned on TV, I just took it as part of the colour-scheme. Also, those that can afford a £2M trimaran out of their own pockets are few and far between, so maybe the donors deserve a little recognition?
Maybe, but there are few who would, given the choice. If it is that easy, why are people not lining up to do it? After all the endorsements after you break the record again would be a big paycheck.
Maybe the rights of any person living in a free country. I have a job to go to and mortgage to pay, but there is nothing apart from myself stopping me selling everything and taking off round the world in a conveyance of my choice. I am indentured to no one.
True, but most people don’t do only what they are compelled to. Some choose to test their limits, or maybe, just do what they enjoy doing.
So whose achievements should we approve of? Only those who directly help others? Those who make money?
So apart from the above, I agree.
