Actually, all concrete sets underwater1. It hardens as a result of the growth of crystals within the matrix (think snowflakes but in the x, y & z directions, not just x & y). Concrete requires water during curing to develop maximum strength.

Avian flu is a a virus, it is an RNA sequence. It is not ‘alive’ in the general sense (implied by ‘bug’) as it contains no DNA.
