Narrowly being beaten into second place in the ‘top BBC Radio 4 comedy category’ by I’m Sorry I haven’t a Clue is The Now Show1. The masterminds behind it are Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis, who (for those old enough to remember) formed half of the Mary Whitehouse Experience (with Paul Newman and David Badiel).

Each week, the show takes apart the weeks news with a mixture of spoken word and song. Almost nothing is sacrosanct, with regular targets being George W, Beckham and David Blaine (aka the Git Wizard). It has at times caused me have to stop diving due to too much laughing.
