I have been thoroughly enjoying this years Tour De France, thanks mainly to the nightly hour highlights on ITV2 courtesy of a Freeview box bought specifically for the purpose. Tomorrow’s stage finishing with a mile-high climb to Courcheval should show whether Lance Armstrong can win his 7th consecutive tour. My money is on him doing so, although three riders from T-Mobile (Ullrich, Kloeden and Vinokourov) along with others, are likely to attack relentlessly on the final climb.
Forget the World Cup or the Olympics, around 15 million people will turn out to watch 189 riders covering the 3,244.5km route. How much coverage does it get on the news? Almost none.
[Edit: Well that just about answers all the questions. Fantastic riding too by potential future winners Valverde and Rasmussen]
