Frontrow appears to be Apples first foray into a home media centre, allowing for users to select from playing DVDs, movies, photos and music via remote control. Currently only available on the newest G5 iMacs, a bit of searching turned up a hacked version that will run on older machines.
I ended up with Spark instead of the bundled iKeys which results in a slightly curious initialisation sequence of cmd+F8, cmd+F8, Esc, but it works.
Of course, there is a little pointlessness in having what has been called the ‘Ten-foot interface’ on a laptop, but it can be controlled via Blue Tooth with compatible phone (which alas mine is not).
[Update: A better launcher, No more Esc needed].
